London’s Wonderful Christmas Lights and Trees
London looks brilliant any time of the year but in the build-up to Christmas London dresses up in its very best festive lights and trees pop up all over the city.
I’d love to show you a few of the fabulous sights to enjoy right now in London. Covent Garden is a good place to start as they have the best tree, in my view, and fabulous lights. This year’s theme is mistletoe – ahhh. You can shop for gifts and enjoy some refreshment as you explore. Continue reading
The Design Museum moves across London to Kensington
“Moving the Design Museum to Kensington is the most important moment in my design career – so far”! was Terence Conran’s inspiring remark at the preview opening of the new site on Kensington High Street, London. He’s put a lot of his own money into the development and move of this museum so he has every right to feel proud of this impressive new building. Continue reading
Welcome back to two of London’s great houses: part 1, the Queen’s House
2016 has undoubtedly had some bad moments, upsets and losses so I’ve been seeking solace in my hometown. London cheers me up every day with sights that lift the mood and as Samuel Johnson said ‘ when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life’. Samuel was clearly from a different age and surely meant women as well! So exploring London is how I lift myself up and although new experiences are good fun, I really enjoy welcoming back old friends.
A Luxury Dessert Tour of London
I was looking forward to a massive sugar rush when I was booked on a Luxe Dessert Tour of London. We met in London’s most famous meeting spot, by the statute of Eros in Piccadilly Circus, although it’s not Eros but his brother Anteros, but that is another story…

A stroll Around London’s Frieze Art Fair 2016
London hosts a large number of art fairs in October but the daddy of them all is Frieze where the world’s top galleries gather in a huge marquee in Regent’s Park to show off their best wares.
I go each year with a friend who lectures in Fine Art so I get the best low down on what we are seeing. You can discover new artists but also find new work from established favourites. Continue reading

Notting Hill Carnival 2016 Was a Hot and Sunny One!
The last 2 years at Notting Hill Carnival were rather hard work in the rain and the chilly temperatures but 2016 saw blue skies and a full burst of summer. It’s one of London’s great events and a major feature in our diaries. Continue reading
Fire! Fire! Explore the 5 Days in 1666 When London Burned Down
350 years ago London was devastated by the The Great Fire of London. Fires were commonplace in London as the city was full of wooden buildings on narrow streets, but this one was a disaster of major proportions when 13,200 houses and 87 churches were destroyed and around 100,000 people were made homeless.
The Museum of London has a great exhibition called Fire! Fire! which takes you through the 5 days of the fire and its aftermath through quotes from those caught up in the fire, original objects, paintings, interactive displays, films and original illustrations, all with the sounds of fire in the background.
